Meet and Greet with Lionel Richie

Earlier this week (28th June) my Fiance & I were lucky enough to personally meet the living legend that is Lionel Richie on his 'All The Hits' tour in Manchester, England.

On the evening we were greeted by Lionel's assistants who labelled us up with our 'meet & greet' VIP bands and we were off to meet Lionel! 

It was such a pleasure to personally meet Lionel, after telling him of my 'NRichieNews' fashion website, how i had interviewed Nicole at Selfridges, London and that i'm a huge fan of his work and also The Richie family he jokingly replied "So you & I are close then" .. he then gestured to my Fiance "Oh My, she knows her stuff!". 

Once we'd gotten a couple of snaps we then headed on to take our seats to watch Lionel perform. 

Lionel's 'All The Hits' tour is amazing, he is a true showman! If you can still bag yourself a ticket to see him on his world tour i would highly recommend it.

Nicole & Lionel Richie : It All Started With A Prince Concert

Earlier this month Nicole & Lionel Richie got together for The Huffington Post to talk about family for an online segment of 'Talk To Me', the interview is so sweet .. watch how they discuss how a Prince concert led to Lionel Richie adopting Nicole.

 

The legendary singer talked to his daughter about his roots in Tuskegee, Alabama, and his musical influences. 
He also opened up about how a Prince concert led him to an important “discovery.” “The discovery was not the show for Prince,” Lionel said. “The discovery was: there’s a 2-year-old on stage with Prince playing a tambourine.” 

That little tambourine player was Nicole, whom Lionel met backstage after the show. The singer, who knew Nicole’s biological parents, realized later that Nicole’s “family situation was falling apart” and wanted to help. “I think we decided that ... what we’ll do to kind of give you some stability was we’ll be like legal guardians, but nothing more,” he said. That eventually led to Lionel and his then-wife, Brenda Harvey Richie, adopting Nicole. 

At this point, the “All Night Long” singer was at one of the heights of his career and explained to Nicole that while work required him to be gone for weeks and sometimes months at a time, he would always come back. 

“I remember you had abandonment issues for obvious reasons. You’d been handed around to every relative in the family,” he said. “I remember what I said to you. I said, ‘I’m never, ever going to leave you.’” That was a promise he made to Nicole, and soon Lionel realized, in the midst of touring and songwriting, that he ended up getting the same thing in return. “I think you...changed my life a great deal in terms of softening my heart, because everything up to that point was about songwriting and the business and touring,” he said. “All of a sudden I found something that I could actually fall in love with that was never going to leave me. How about that?”

Nicole Richie attends the Lionel Richie Home Collection launch event

Nicole Richie recently attended an intimate evening at Lionel Richie's Beverly Hills home to celebrate the launch of Lionel's Home Collection range.

On the evening Nicole toasted a speech to her Father;

"Congratulations on a successful marriage – the only one you've had," she joked about his collaboration. "I will say, for real, I just have to say that … for me, someone that has watched you my whole life go out and work and work and work, it's so nice to see you at this stage in your later life where you're able to enjoy life and be creative because you are an artist. You deserve this. I'm very, very happy for you."

Being a fan of Nicole over the years i have grown to learn intimate tid-bits of what Nicole shares as a glimpse into her Father's love and pride of his home and garden, so it seems like a truly natural step for Lionel to be stepping into launching his own homeware collection.
