Hilights from the Marie Claire interview with Nicole Richie

Nicole Richie has recently spoke to Marie Claire magazine for their March 2010 isssue. Nicole is loooking fabulous in their spring spread, see the photoshoot here.

"Clothing was something I always wanted to do," Richie tells the magazine. "I've been pulling tear sheets from magazines since I was a little girl."

As for juggling two kids while trying to grow a fashion empire, which includes a jewelry line, the fashion brand House of Harlow 1960 and the soon-to-be-released Winter Kate clothing and footwear collections, Nicole says it's not a problem.

"I'm a Virgo and I'm really good at scheduling. So there are 24 hours in a day and I'm up at 6:30 am every day anyway," she reveals, before explaining she doesn't rely on a live-in nanny like most A-listers. "Not full-time, but I do have someone that helps me right now and, well, I have my mom, who's here."

Aside from fashion, Nicole Richie also discussed rumors that her super-slim frame is due to an eating disorder. - "I definitely felt it was a little unfair to say someone has an eating disorder when they don't," she says of the media coverage over the last few years. "It's extremely insulting and irresponsible. An eating disorder is serious and it's a disease, and I don't think you can lightly say that someone has a disease unless they're openly telling you that they do."

"I have been very honest with my friends, my family and also with the public about the mistakes that I've made and the challenges that I've gone through," she continued. "And I have said many times, 'Listen, if I had an eating disorder, I would tell you and I would talk to you about it.'"

By way of explaining her tiny frame so soon after giving birth to son Sparrow James Midnight Madden last September, she offers: "I'm nursing and he's a big boy, so..."

Nicole also tells Marie Claire that she's got more on her plate than just her fashion ventures, revealing she's interested in launching a music career, writing another book (her 2006 book "The Truth About Diamonds" was a The New York Times bestseller), and starring as a young woman balancing work and home life in a television sitcom she's developing for ABC.

"I think that ten years ago someone would probably have said I was crazy to want so many occupations," she tells the magazine. "But artists like Beyoncé have paved the way, going from music to acting to designer, and I have a ton of respect for people like that."

UNCF an evening of stars tribute to Lionel Richie

The UNCF are honouring Lionel Richie with an star studded show dedicated to him and his music. An evening of stars - tribute to Lionel Richie , will be honored by an all-star lineup of performers and presenters—names like Natalie Cole, Jesse McCartney, Ledisi, Akon, Chrisette Michele and Brian McKnight—paying tribute to Lionel by performing the songs he made famous.

Woven around the star-turned performances, UNCF ensures the message gets across—education is essential to success.

An Evening of Stars is a concert with a cause, and the cause is education.

Performers and presenters alike explain how important it is that every young person gets an education that starts in preschool and doesn’t end until college graduation. And they’ll pay tribute to the work of UNCF in making sure that our sons and daughters get the education they need to become our next generation of teachers, scientists, doctors and nurses—and leaders.

The show airs nationwide Jan. 23 and 24, 2010, to an audience of millions.

Nicole Richie also makes an appearance on the Lionel Richie tribute - an evening of stars show.

Nicole Richie on her clothing collection - "I 100 Percent designed everything."

Nicole Richie spoke to USA Today about her new clothing collection Winter Kate.
Nicole Richie who already has her own jewellery line House of Harlow 1960 spoke about her Winter Kate clothing collection :

'I 100 per cent designed everything. Colours, cuts, fabrics.

I would never put my name on something I wouldn't wear myself.

That's why it's taken me this long to have my line come out.

I do respect designers that go in it for the long haul and don't do things that are trendy.

'I've always been one to dress for comfort.

I'm not one to wear something that I don't feel good in.

Comfort was really important for me, especially doing a spring line.

For me, I really don't like to feel like I'm wearing anything.'

The Winter Kate collection prices range from the high to lower scale.

Nicole told the USA Today newspaper:

'Everything is extremely affordable, and that was important to me, to have these pieces be accessible to everyone.'

Garments from the Winter Kate range from $68 for a tank top, to $1,372 for a suede vest, while footwear from her House of Harlow shoe collection range from $158 to $275.
